ICAA Conference on Dependencies
Estoril, Portugal - 11 to 16 October 2009

More than 300 participants from over 50 different countries and from all continents gathered in Estoril, Portugal, from 11 to 16 October 2009 at the 52nd International ICAA Conference on Dependencies, co-hosted by ICAA and the National Institute on Drugs and Drug Addiction (IDT).
The conference was organised under the overall theme "Shaping the Future - A Multisectorial Challenge" and particularly focussed on identifying future trends in addiction prevention, treatment and policy and how practitioners should respond to these.
The programme included ten plenary sessions with keynote speakers of international renown addressing the conference's major themes.
Six Skill Building Workshops - ranging from motivational interviewing to art therapy - provided a platform for animators providing training in specific areas of prevention and treatment of dependence.
The traditional sessions of the ICAA Sections regrouped over eighty contributed papers and allowed preseenters and their audience in-depth exchange and dialogue.
